Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM), Exeter Commission, 2023
A commission to develop new work in response to RAMM. I chose to paint a series of portraits of four women artists who have work in their art collection: Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) and Gillian Ayres (1930-2018) and two local artists: Amy Shelton and Michelle Sank. The resulting paintings were displayed at RAMM from 2023-24.
Porthmeor Studio 5 Residency, St Ives – 2016
A residency in the historic and beautiful studios at Porthmeor, St Ives, allowing me to create new work on a larger scale.
I developed a series portraits, drawing on the contemporary industry of tourism.
I researched the Newlyn School, who painted scenes of the fishing industry in the late 1800’s and the Crysede Silk Factory, St Ives. I visited Penlee House, St Ives Museum and St Ives Archive.
Railway Poster Commission 2015
A commission to design three railway posters to promote ‘Visit Exmouth’. The project received Arts Council funding and was organised by Exmouth Festival, Exmouth Council and Tourist Information. The posters were displayed at stations along the Avocet Line and other First Great Western stations.
